Esme Miami Beach

Miami Beach, Miami

Virgin rating

The hotel

Bringing an edgy yet sexy Espanola vibe to South Beach, Esme is a hotel come “village” that offers a fun and sophisticated place to stay to enjoy the best of Miami. There’s no doubt that the rooftop deck is the place to be here. Chill at the pool by day, whether it’s in the water or on the very ‘instagrammable’ day beds. As the day draws to a close, enjoy a sundowner from The Roof Bar and soak up the music. Live DJ sessions carry on into the night on Friday’s and Saturdays so you can celebrate the weekend in style. There’s plenty of other bars and restaurants to enjoy at Esme, make sure you book a reservation at the hidden Sushi Bar with only 12 prized seats so you can devour nigiri to your hearts content. As you walk through the buildings of the hotel you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into Spain with the plant lined terraces and deep red tones, and then that glorious sunshine will hit you as you leave the lobby – where you’re just 4 minutes’ stroll from Ocean Drive and the beach itself. If you carry on down past the Versace Mansion (which we’d recommend booking into for lunch!) to the Art Deco Gift Shop, you can join a tour of the Art Deco district. Or make use of the complimentary bicycle rental from the hotel to explore Miami Beach at your own agenda. If it’s more down time you’re looking for, the hotel offers a beach service with towels and chairs too.

Pleasant rooftop bar, although the very small pool was overrun with small children every time we went up there. We had a Superior City view king with balcony and it was tiny – no desk, no chairs, very dark furniture – flashlight needed to use the wardrobe, may have lost a pair of sunglasses in there. We were in the Casa Matanza building and not bothered by nighttime noise, however the hotel decided to cut tiles outside our room first thing in the morning accompanied by a never ending series of delivery trucks and garbage trucks with their backup alarms. Housekeeping was an issue – room not serviced before 4:30 -5pm both days, and then only after we requested it. We were still left with dirty cups, coffee not replenished etc. Hotel charges $40/day village fee, includes chairs and towels on the beach but umbrella $20 extra, hotel organized car to the cruise terminal $70. This is not a cheap hotel and we expected much more for the money paid. Read less

We stayed for 1 night on the way to our cruise. We checked in and were told of the resort fee (I knew about) and some other fees for use of the beach and pool etc, totalling over $100 . You would think in this day and age that use of a pool is a given ! A bit rich if you ask me. The room was fine for a night but a bit noisy with the racket… Read more

Coffee machine had no instructions, still don't know how to use the damm things ! We would've eaten at the hotel for ease but they had enough money from us. The Cuban next door was excellent. Wouldn't stay again. Read less

The hotel was decent for the price and totally adequate for the one night we spent, but a longer stay would have left me disappointed. The rooms are extremely small, and for a "designy" hotel the the quality of the furniture and finishes was pretty low. Also during our stay the fire alarm went off at 6am forcing ALL the hotel guests out onto the sidewalk in their pajamas. The hotel/staff gave no explanation or apology after the fact. Like many newer trendy hotels, this place seems to exist mostly for Instagram. Read less

This would be a pretty decent $100 a night 2-star motel. But. Considering they are a $300+ a night "4-star" hotel (no idea how they managed to swing that rating), it's pretty terrible. One of the main problems is the noise. They have a rooftop DJ which sounds great. The problem is the roof is the third floor. So if you are in your room before … Read more
This would be a pretty decent $100 a night 2-star motel. But. Considering they are a $300+ a night "4-star" hotel (no idea how they managed to swing that rating), it's pretty terrible. One of the main problems is the noise. They have a rooftop DJ which sounds great. The problem is the roof is the third floor. So if you are in your room before 11pm (or later, depends on the day... it's supposed to be 11 but it could be 11:30 or 12), you either have the music blasting through your ceiling or through your walls. Good times if you have no kids and want to go out every evening or if you trained your kids to fall asleep through anything. Otherwise you're going to hate it. Also, we didn't have our room made up during our whole stay and we actually had to empty our own trash, and even though the cleaning staff were kind enough to take our towels to be replaced when we asked, they didn't bring new ones back, so we had to go get our own. How they managed to get a Michelin key is beyond me. I guess Michelin isn't as exclusive as I thought it was, and anyone can pay them for this honor. Read less

Chic Hotel , fabulous location along espalona way, which is amazing at night. Roof Top pool area is great , pool is small but very cute , surrounded by couches that have extendable shade sails that cover the sun. Highly recommend, it’s very well priced and you are in the middle of the action on Miami Beach.
