Grand Hyatt Indian Wells and Villas

Palm Springs, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

An oasis in the desert, you’ll find a huge range of things to keep you busy among the Hyatt Regency's 45-acres of perfectly manicured gardens. There’s seven different pools to cool off in, as well as a spa for a little more indulgence. If you’re a golfer, pick from two courses – and a pro can help iron out any kinks in your swing. Travelling with young ones? There are some great kids activities going on, as well as a family pool with a water slide. Maybe something more tranquil? The adults-only pool may be more your style – and maybe a cocktail by the pool at sunset followed by a tender steak.

This was our first time to this resort and it was really nice. We had a 2-bedroom Villa, and traveled with my wife and 2 young adult sons. Once you are all checked in, you can either walk to the Villas, or they will hook you up with a bell person to take you there on a golf cart. It's a little bit of a walk from the front desk. Once you are all checked in, you can either walk to the Villas, or they will hook you up with a bell person to take you there on a golf cart. It's a little bit of a walk from the front desk. (Not that it matters that much, but the front desk employee who checked us in made no mention of our Explorist status). The Villa had 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms. The first bedroom had a King bed and the other had 2 queens. Both bathrooms were essentially the same. Continuing on, there is a small kitchen with dining area, living room with couch, chairs and huge smart TV. But, the best feature was the backyard that had separate seating areas, gas fireplace to make smores, gas bbq grill to cook steaks, burgers, etc, and a hot tub. There is also a heated waterpark area that is great for kids and adults, with 3 waterslides, 2 for older kids and adults, and one for the smaller tykes. There are 2 or 3 pools as well, and one just for adults 18+. We didn't do much of anything else at the resort, as the restaurants didn't really strike our fancy, so we bbq'd one night, and ate out all the other meals, except lunches which we got at the pool. Overall, it was a really nice break right before Christmas Read less

This is a semi-luxury property. It is very family heavy. The rooms are spacious but aesthetically mid. The restaurant Tia Carmen is great, and the lounge Carmocha is good, but if you're visiting during peak travel times, the staff will likely be overwhelmed. We stayed over New Year's, and that busy time might have contributed to our general feeling that the quality and experience did not match the price tag. Note: the beds have motion sensor lights on them that you can't turn off. Read less

Besides the many pools, we had a relaxed stroll in the 'lazy river" and went down the amazing water slide!!! The staff around the pool was very friendly yet extremely efficient, and anticipated our needs perfectly. We had a fabulous lunch in their restaurant and the diverse menu provided many great choices: everything was delicious and well-prepared. The front desk and front door staff was extremely attentive and professional. I would give this hotel 10 stars if I could! Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great staff that made the stay very enjoyable

Jan 3, 2025 Susan Y

The staff was so kind and accommodating to everyone who walked in. This alone set this hotel apart from other hotels. The hotel itself was beautiful and had a very resort-like feel. The rooms were large and clean. But really, it was the staff that made the experience so enjoyable.

Very nice resort for familirs or adults-only, clean large 6 pools. Best hotel staff and service ever in any hotel. Love the adults only pool and hot tub. The water slides and the lazy river with free floats are very nice as well. The breakfast buffet is amazing.
