We stayed in a Heavenly Junior Suite King on half-board between 19 January to 25 January. There were many things we loved about this hotel and one or two things that were less than perfect, but not so much to change our five stars. The hotel is on the beach and our room had a great view. The room itself was lovely: queen size bed, modern showers (indoor and outdoor), separate bath, his and hers wash basins and all the touches you would expect from a good five star hotel: robes, slippers, a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates, tea, coffee and good supply of free bottled water, A TV with many channels, including every premiership game! We dined at Seasonal Tastes (buffet), Mystique (pan Asian, a la carte) and Kangan (Indian, a la carte) and really enjoyed every meal. The giant prawns at Mystique were particularly delicious. Unlike some hotels we stayed at, there was no problem at all booking a table at the a la carte restaurants on the day. A nice surprise was discovering that snorkelling was offered as part of our package. This included a boat ride to a location and all the equipment. Another surprise was that taxis cost less booked from the hotel than privately. We hired a taxi return for a visit to the botanical gardens and the sugar museum, which took about 3.5 hours (well worth a visit if you are at the hotel) for 2500 MUR, which was about 25% cheaper than anything we could find online. Staff were great. Everyone was helpful and seemed to genuinely care about making our stay enjoyable. We had a night flight back and requested an extended checkout. We have stayed at five star hotels where we’ve had to checkout by mid- day and then spend the rest of the day with access to a public courtesy room. But at Westin staff immediately put us at ease by saying they understood how important this was. On the day before our departure, we were told that our room was, unfortunately, booked but a room next to ours was available. We were moved to an equivalent room with no fuss and no extra cost. We then enjoyed the rest of the day on the beach. Excellent service, specially by Kemuel. There are a few things to be aware of. There are no restaurants or shops near the hotel so, realistically you are restricted to buying lunch there and using their shops. We didn’t find this a problem because prices were reasonable - a lunch for two with a drink was about 1800 MUR. We considered the all inclusive option but we’re glad to have not gone for it. Many of the nicer menu options at the a la carte restaurants are only available at extra cost and unless you are a heavy drinker, the difference in cost is not worth it. We had lunch with drinks every day and drinks during the day and at the bar in the evenings and our total bill was less than half of what it would have been if we had booked all inclusive. However, one of us didn’t drink alcohol and the other is a moderate drinker. The beach in front of the hotel, while great for relaxing and sunbathing, isn’t great for swimming because of the rocks. However, literally two minutes walk from the hotel there is a sandy, clear, long beach that is available to all. Read less

Pros: - hotel is beautiful. Rooms were lovely and well serviced. - pools were very quiet and there was no rush for sunloungers in the morning. - food was excellent. - staff super friendly. - they kindly accommodated an early check in and late check out to fit with our flights which was really appreciated. Cons: - The service was very slow. Ordering drinks could take 15-20 mins. - there was a huge amount of items not part of the all inclusive. Also some things were included on a physical menu, but not available on the QR ordering system. Available at one pool but not the other etc. Felt a bit hard work at times to get what you wanted, which is not what you expect from 5* all inclusive. - whilst the service was friendly it was a little chaotic at times. They called us the wrong name all week, and tried to deliver a birthday/anniversary cake that wasn't for us. When we asked for things, we weren't always filled with confidence that they would be done. It didn't feel as effortless as I would have liked. For example it would be nice to be able to book the activities 24 hours rather than only at certain times, as you couldn't book on the day. Some clarifications from questions and other reviews I've seen: - no the beach is not a wide, sandy beach, but you can definitely walk into the sea and have a little swim if you like. - we went in January and were worried about the weather forecast showing rain. It actually rained about 15 mins in the whole week, so I would take the forecast apps with a pinch of salt. Read less

Reception: will preface this by saying we have Titanium Elite Marriott status. No early check in despite clearly not full hotel, the overview of resort given was extremely robotic and rushed - we didn’t realize there was a larger pool on the other side of the resort until the last day! Plus - we got a nice room upgrade which was appreciated. Property: grounds are pretty, beaches are small but nice as well. Overall really great vibe. Room: Had no clue on how to adjust AC and no one gave overview of the hotel room which would have helped for this. They have Westin heavenly bed, but crappy pillows and combine that with no control over the AC - well not so heavenly. Nice view in the Turtle Bay Suite. Pools: No towel service - have to bring from your room and if you forget have to walk back to reception. Minimal service at the pools and super limited menu. No water available so this sucked when you couldn’t find staff. We ordered food at once. They brought without silverware or napkins. And a bottle of water without glasses. Then made 3 separate trips to bring above items. Pools and service were very disappointing for a 5star resort hotel. Service: in the restaurants the service was excellent, in the lobby not so much. We lugged our luggage across the hotel and packed into taxi on our own, no one even bothered to help. I injured my foot (not at hotel) and walking across the property became challenging, the number of times staff drove by with empty cars - without offering assistance was stunning. Food: Indian restaurant had excellent food, service was nice at all restaurants. Prices expensive but on par with others in Mauritius. Gym/Spa: average quality, have to book 24hours in advance to use basic spa facilities, no glasses to drink water by the spa area, had to find a hidden closet to get slippers. Spa was just basic and not on par with other Westin spas we have been to. Overall experience was ok, definitely not 5 star resort though, ok value, not great service. Gave similar review to management and got generic service recovery response which was cut and paste. Read less

I had a great experience at the Westin Turtle bay resort. Anas and the rest of the staff were great and very welcoming and proactive. Highly recommend for a family retreat. The selection of food and quality were amazing. One of my best hotel experience in mauritius. Will certainly comeback!
