We always wanted to get married just the two of us at a Sandals Resort . We chose Dunns River because it was newly renovated and had an amazing beach view butler suite available! We stayed a full week and did the two lovebirds ceremony. Before the trip, we were in contact with a “wedding planner”. They help you decide what wedding package works best for you and help you with the documents needed to be married in Jamaica. Be prepared, they are really trying to upsell you on everything . We just wanted a very basic toes in the sand wedding but you can make it very extravagant/ expensive. I was informed 30 days before our trip that the beach was getting renovated and we weren’t able to do toes in the sand any longer and would have to do an ocean view terrace instead. This was super disappointing because a beach wedding is why we chose Sandals. But we figured the ceremony is pretty quick so as long as we had an ocean view it would be fine. We flew into Ochos Rios airport. Definitely do this over Montego bay because that airport is over a hr drive to the resort where Ochos Rios is only a short 20 minute ride. When you land , they have an amazing air conditioned waiting room just for Sandals to relax in while you wait to be picked up. We had a butler suite so check in was super easy! They greet you with a drink and you wait in a separate waiting room for your butler to bring you to your room. Our room was beautiful! The only downside was the ceiling fan remote didn’t work so it was stuck on high . They tried fixing it numerous times and ended up giving us a credit for the inconvenience which was super nice! Our butlers were AMAZING! They keep your room spotless, walk you to the restaurants to make sure you get a table, reserve your chair by the pool/ beach, and so much more! Our butlers were Eshaan and Dejhanae and they were the BEST! They decorated the room for our wedding night and my husbands birthday! They even decorated his pool chair for his birthday . Our wedding was great! We met with our wedding planner the day before the wedding and she walked us through everything. When she showed us where we were going to get married, I was a little worried. It was right next to the pool. I was worried about walking past everyone in the pool in my wedding gown , I wanted something more private. But they eased my worries by saying they would drive me in a golf cart to the steps. I had my hair and makeup done at the spa and loved it! The cake was SO good! And we did the dinner on the beach after. It was perfect . My husband was scuba certified but I was not. We spoke to Marlon at the aqua center and he helped me become scuba certified while we were there! He was super patient and made the whole experience easy . I highly recommend working with him if you need to get certified! The dive spots are easy if you’re a first time diver. We also went to Dunns River falls on a catamaran. They pick you up at the resort and it’s a nice ride to the falls. The actual falls were pretty scary! You hold hands and help each-other up the falls. I was hoping to swim in them more but it is mostly a hike. Jamaicans are super warm and friendly! But beware they will hustle you for every penny you have. My advice is to make sure to clarify the cost for everything . The beaches are gorgeous, the resort was beautiful and we can’t wait to go back! Read less

The grounds of this resort are pristine and we enjoyed the gorgeous flowers and foliage that are meticulously maintained. We really enjoyed the variety of food choices- especially the Italian and Sushi restaurants. Wherever we went we were greeted with kindness, and good service. The first person we met was Dwayne (sp) at Saltaire, a true gentleman and provided great service to us. The entertainment was a big plus- enjoyed the Fire Show and our very favorite was Caribbean Night- we absolutely enjoyed the history and interpretive dancing. The entertainment staff was a lot of fun and kept things hopping all day! We truly especially enjoyed the interaction with Omando, Conrad and Alecia (a fabulous singer)! We appreciated the kindness of Clive who worked on the beach and handled water sports. Jenielle at the beach bar kept the drinks flowing and always had a smile. Our first drink was at Lapidus- Javoun is a fantastic bartender who made great cocktails and great conversation-we were surprised he remembered knew us by name the next time we stopped in. Just returned from our honeymoon at Dunn’s River. We had the most amazing time!! Background: First Sandals experience and first All-Inclusive. We picked the resort because it is newer and we wanted to see the Dunn’s River Falls. We are so glad we decided this resort. We were in the Travertine Luxury Room. Arrived in Montego Bay airport. Everything went fine. Ride to resort was smooth. Remember to tip your drivers as they are not sandals employees. Check in was easy, we did it prior to arrival. We had the honeymoon package, the most notable thing was the breakfast in bed for one day (fresh delicious and on time). Everything else was minimal. We had some cloth flower petals on a nightstand with a honeymoon welcome note. Room was very nice and had everything we needed. Double sink vanity. Waterfall shower. 6 out of 7 days they cleaned our room twice a day. Fridge was always stocked full with drinks. We were on the second floor so we had a roof in front of us so the view was kind of choppy. Not a big deal but our view specifically wasn’t just like the pictures. The beach was beautiful. Yes a little rocky in some areas but you have to find the right spot to get in and it’s not bad. Very windy. Out of the seven days we were there, we had only one green flag day. I think four yellow and two red. Most days they still did water sports. Forecast showed rain every day leading up to the trip. It probably did rain a little every day, but only one downpour one day for like an hour. Chair game was strong by the pools and often the beach. We are beach people and found a nice spot under the tree by the beach bar around 10 every day. We aren’t really early risers and we didn’t have butlers. Only one day we got chairs with an umbrella on the beach, and it was amazing. But not a huge deal for us as the tree provided nice shade. Entertainment was great! Awesome singers, cultural dance night, illusionist, fire dancing. We did the Island Routes Catamaran cruise to the Dunn’s River Falls and it was one of the highlights of our trip. You go to the dock at 8:30am, get on the catamaran. Right away the DJ is playing tunes and it’s a party. They take you out a bit to go snorkeling if you want. The people that did snorkel said it was fun, they saw small fish but nothing crazy. Then you go to the falls, you need water shoes. It’s quite slippery. We didn’t walk up the falls. There is a walking trail to the falls and you have sections where you can go into the falls. We did the trail and met our group at the top. It was so beautiful and so much fun and were back to the resort around 12:30. Remember to tip the Island Routes folks as they are separate from Sandals. We did the candlelight dinner. You pick your dinner selections from a page of options. Very romantic, they set you up away from noise. Husband liked all his food selections, mine were ok. The caesar salad I had was delicious. Lobster was yummy, I was expecting different from the steak. I personally don’t know if it was worth $200 but not sure what husbands opinion is. Do the pottery activity!!!!!! It was so relaxing and fun. Pottery is on Sundays and you must RSVP. If you go and are still there by Thursday, he will fire it and bring it to you completed. We left on Tuesday but it survived the trip home so we are working with a local pottery shop to get it in the kiln. Food: Majority of the food was amazing. The sushi, jerk chicken, pizza, chicken BLT, beef brisket rigatoni, lasagna, breakfast buffet, pineapples etc were top notch. It was awesome. Cascata the Italian place was our favorite for dinner. There is a rooftop bar in the building where the sky pools are. Best view on the resort. During the day it was so quiet and relaxing. We also loved Laughing Waters above the beach bar but it was almost always full The employees were really a highlight of the trip for us. From our experience, Jamaicans seem to always be having a good time. Singing, laughing, dancing, etc. It really was refreshing to see so much enjoyment. We had amazing service. Every single Sandals employee encounter we had was positive. O’Ryan on the entertainment team. We loved talking with him. He always had time for us and we consider him a friend. Rajiv was our waiter for the candlelight dinner and we saw him a few times after that. Very kind to us. Leon in the gift shop. Not pushy at all and talked to him about Jamaican history. Mark the bartender was funny and made the best Bob Marley. Tanny did the pottery and he is an excellent teacher. Other stand out employees were Joseph and Ray on the entertainment team, DJ Rhajime, Randy at the front desk, Sheldon and Tarzan with Epix. We had the best time and couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon. It was truly so refreshing and every day was a great day. If you’re thinking about visiting, DO IT! Read less

Incredible week. I’m late doing this review but better late than never, because this property certainly deserves a review. We cannot say enough good things from the moment we arrived till the moment we departed. Upon arrival after Paul and the boys sang us the arrival song we were greeted by the lovely Tresann from loyalty. Moments later we were greeted by the GM Deryk. Had a nice chat with him and then our butler Patrick arrived. What a gem Patrick and Stanford ( whoop, whoop) were our butlers for the week and let me tell you they are the dream team. We were looked after every moment. Stanford even came to pick us up in the golf cart a few nights at the rondoval for dinner so I didn’t have to walk in my ” pretty shoes” as he called them . Truly 2 remarkable gentleman. The SSG dinner was the biggest we have ever attended but we were seated with some wonderful people and had a great evening. There are some wonderful people we would like to make special mention of. Every employee we encountered went above and beyond for us and were always very pleasant but the ones we are listing are the ones we had “moments “ with. Patrick and Stanford our butlers two gems. Garry and Shion at Edessa and the Grill, always made breakfast and lunch pleasant for us . Paula at L’Amande wish we could have photocopied her. She works hard!!! Jada the cocktail waitress turned bartender handled one heck of a crowd at the rooftop bar after the SSG dinner and did it without even flinching. Richard the bar supervisor whom we had the pleasure of meeting last May when we came for dinner from the Plantation. It was nice to see him and to find out he has been promoted made us very happy. Nice to see hard work recognized. Now let’s go to the Rum Club where we would end every evening with drinks. Romario, Denzel, Donovan.. man do those guys know how to make an espresso martini. The competition was fierce and fun. We would like to acknowledge the people that kept our Rondoval sparkling at all times Asheika and Greta from housekeeping and Otis the houseman. One other person who deserves special recognition is Dominique who is working in the, manager training program. We had met Dominique at South Coast when he was in his 2 nd week of the program. We sat with him at the SSG dinner and found out he lived in a town on Ontario very close to where I was raised. It was really nice to see him again and have a few chats with him. The highlight of our week truly was when Adam Stewart the executive chairman came and spoke to us at the VIP luncheon. That truly was the high point As we drove away with tears streaming down my face Paul and the butlers sang the departure song. We have to say we like the arrival song much more. Deryk you run a fabulous resort….we loved it so much we are doing a split stay over New Years and made changes to the plan and are coming back. We cannot wait to see you all again !! Whoop whoop Read less
