The beach is clean with no solicitors like in many other places. The resort is small so there is no real place to walk which was a bit disappointing. The only negative is we had no hot shower water on arrival and despite reporting it, it was never fixed which led to switching rooms after two days. Our butlers Jack and Shonna Kay were wonderful and did everything they could to make our visit even more enjoyable. Read less

Really Good. Almost Great! So many positives about Sandals Royal Caribbean. Wonderful staff, who were helpful and engaging. Always willing to go the extra mile. Super evening entertainment. I’m glad that they’re renovating parts of the resort, as parts are looking a little tired, including the gym. A good buffet breakfast with lots of choice, but if you’re vegetarian, the options are a bit limited. Nice choice of restaurants on the resort, but mixed in terms of quality. Bombay Club was nice, but it needs table lights, as it’s hard to see what you’re ordering and eating - thank goodness for mobile phones. Royal Thai on the island is very good. Le Jardinier is excellent, but be prepared to have to wait much longer than your booked time, but it’s well worth the wait. And if you get Robert as your waiter, you’re in for a treat. Popping over to the Jerk Shack on the island is a relaxing spot for lunch. Having access to Sandals Montego Bay a few minutes away in the shuttle opens up a range of extra dining options including the brilliant Butch’s restaurant, the Bayside lunch buffet is great as is Oleander Room. A second shuttle for the return trip would be good as it can be a scramble to get on it for the trip back. We took a taxi a couple of time rather than have to scramble. Only $10! Overall? A pretty good experience, and the staff and evening entertainment make the big difference. Read less

I am writing to share my wedding experience with Royal Caribbean Jamaica, which took place from December 8-13, 2024, with the wedding occurring on December 10, 2024. I would like to start with my experience on December 9, 2024, when I went to the salon for a consultation with the stylist who would be doing my hair and makeup. I wanted to explain exactly what I was looking for, show pictures of the look I desired, and provide insights on my hair, including the products that work best for me. During the consultation, the stylist requested that I wash my own hair and bring my own foundation, as she wasn't sure she would be able to match my skin tone. I was surprised by this request, as I had been under the impression that everything would be handled by the stylist and that I would only need to show up. Nevertheless, I agreed to the stylist's requests, and she assured me that she could achieve the hair and makeup look I wanted. On my wedding day, December 10, 2024, I arrived at the salon at 1:20 p.m., with my hair already shampooed, ready for the stylist to begin blow-drying and styling it. The stylist did not arrive until 1:30 p.m. and told me to wait a few minutes while she prepared. At that point, my wedding was set to begin at 4 p.m. I was concerned about the timing. The stylist did not begin working on my hair until 1:45 p.m., and when I was taken to her station, I found sand all over the chair and floor. She put towels on the chair so I wouldn’t get sand on me. By 2:30 p.m., my hair was still not finished, and the stylist had not started my makeup. I called the wedding department to express my concerns about not being on track, and they were very helpful in reassuring me that everything would work out. At 3:30 p.m., I called again, in tears, because I was unhappy with the progress and the result of my hair. The stylist’s work was far from what I had requested, and I felt overwhelmed. At that point, the wedding department manager came to the salon, reassured me, and helped calm me down. I am truly grateful to the wedding department for their support, but unfortunately, there was only so much they could do. In the end, I had to ask the stylist to stop and help fix my hair myself, as I felt she wasn’t achieving the look I had described. She attempted to place the blame on me for not expressing my dissatisfaction earlier, but I made it clear that I had communicated my preferences both the day before and during the appointment. By 3:30 p.m., we were still struggling to get my hair right. As a result, I had to do my own makeup, as the stylist did not understand the look I had shown her earlier. Thankfully, I know the basics of makeup application and was able to make the best of the situation using my own products. Despite these issues, I was only credited for the makeup (not refunded), not the hair. The late start meant I was an hour behind schedule for my wedding, which left little time for family photos. My family had to rush through photos to get to the cocktail hour, and my husband didn’t have any photos with his mother. They offered us an option to take additional photos the following day that would have required me to redo my hair and makeup, wasting precious vacation time, and we were more interested in family pictures. It was deeply upsetting to know that we couldn’t get that day back. Additionally, I wasn’t able to have my get ready time with my mother and sister or wear my wedding "getting ready" outfit , as I had to wear the clothes I wore to the salon because I was running late. This was another missed opportunity for a special moment. To make matters worse, on December 11, 2024 while I was locked in the bathroom, in a (family members room) my family tried calling the front desk for assistance multiple times, but no one answered. A family member had to go to the front desk to request help, and it took 30 minutes for someone to arrive. I am grateful that I had family with me to help, as otherwise, I could still be locked in that bathroom. In summary, my wedding day, which should have been a joyous occasion, was marred by a series of issues related to the salon service, timing, and communication. I hope this feedback helps to improve the experience for future brides, as these moments are precious and cannot be replaced. Read less

This Sandals was our 7th. The Sandals Ochi was the worst. The Royal Caribbean was very nice. Our room was a bit small, but the bathroom was fantastic and our location was great. about 15 steps from a really nice hot tub and swimming pool. The food at this Sandals was much better. The Tai restaurant and Bom Bay were Fantastic. The entertainment was better (a bit loud at times) and they offered many things to do (but you need to find out what, where and when) no one will tell you about activities. The play makers at Montego Bay were much more friendly and really interacted with the guests. The photographers were also much better at Montego Bay resort. (but be prepared for extremely high prices when buying a picture. And you don't actually get the picture, you get a digital package that you get to go home and print them out yourself.) The staff at Royal were much more personal and friendly. They paid attention to detail. and they were on the ball (not much gets past them) in a good way. At this resort your close to market shopping and the air port (I know that doesn't seem like a plus but believe me it is) Literally its a 15 minute ride to the resort from the air port compared to over 2 hours to Ocho Rios (and that's after your flight and then going through immigrations. The air port is a mess compared to most. The line to TSA is a night mare and they say its like that everyday. That is not the resorts fault, but you need to be prepared because once you leave Sandals your on your own. This resort finished our vacation on a good note. Read less
