From hipster T-shirts to bespoke fashions, Atlanta‘s shopping scene runs the gamut. Purchase a bonsai tree from a monk at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit or pick out a wacky costume from Little Five Point’s beloved Junkman’s Daughter, but whatever you do, don’t leave the “Big Peach” without some swag from one of these signature shops.

Atlanta MADE

As the name suggests, this showroom only retails products designed and made in the Atlanta metro area. More than 70 artists contribute their creations to Atlanta MADE, from custom-made furniture such as dining tables and lamps to jewellery, organic skincare and stationary. The diverse collection also includes paintings, sculptures and other works of art.

Crafted Westside

Peruse the works of talented local artisans and designers at this West Atlanta shop that also has pop-up locations around the city. Jewellery, apparel, accessories, bath and body, and art and décor fill the industrial space at Crafted, with standouts including Blue Papoose’s kid-friendly crowns; all natural beer and champagne-laced soaps from Brown Bag Soap Co.; and Custom Coaster’s tumbled marble coasters featuring Atlanta landmarks – the perfect gift to take home.

Junkman’s Daughter

Looking for a pink wig, Magic 8 Ball and patent leather knee-high boots? Then Junkman’s Daughter is the place to go. Since 1982 this “Alternative Superstore” in Little Five Points has been one of the best shops in Atlanta for unconventional fashions, out-there housewares and eccentric gifts and collectibles. The 10,000-square-foot space also features a tobacco shop and shoe department at the top of a 20-foot red high-heeled staircase.

Monastery of the Holy Spirit Abbey Garden Center

Less than 30 miles from downtown Atlanta is a community of more than 40 monks who dedicate themselves to the worship of God – and the selling of bonsai. Visit the Abbey Garden Center for a variety of gardening items, including all bonsai related plants and supplies. From pottery made in Japan and Korea to special Monastery soil, this place is a special find for the gardening enthusiast.

Range Boutique

Los Angeles-based and local Atlanta designers are the highlight of this California Southern style boutique, opened in 2007. Every four to six weeks owner Sabrina Davis curates a new combination of dresses, tops and T-shirts for each occasion, handpicking every piece herself. Range Boutique also includes an in-store jewellery and bead shop, Brina Beads, giving shoppers even more reason to stop by.

Sid Mashburn and Ann Mashburn

After more than 50 years in the fashion industry (combined), Sid and Ann Mashburn followed their dream of opening their own fashion destination in 2007. Located on Atlanta’s Westside, the connected men's and women’s shops offers the couple’s own designed-and-produced clothing, as well as their favourite “classic, iconic, and hard-to-find pieces”. One of the most popular shops in Atlanta, stop by for that perfectly tailored blazer or 100 per cent leather throw-everything-in tote that you’ll keep for years.
