After ticking the must-see attractions in Atlanta off your bucket list, why not try something a little more unusual? Dive beneath the surface and you’ll soon discover that there’s more to this Southern city than Coca-Cola. From football museums and independent boutiques to the beautiful Atlanta BeltLine, here are our favourite alternative things to do in The Big Peach.

College Football Hall of Fame
American football is big business in the states, especially in the South, so you’d better know ‘who’s who’ before attending a game. Brush up on your football facts at the College Football Hall of Fame, an interactive museum immortalising the sport’s greatest players. Discover historic college football artefacts and test your talents at the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Skill Zone to see if you’d make the team.
Atlanta BeltLine
Foot, bike, roller skate – whatever your choice of transport, a tour of Atlanta’s BeltLine is an eye-opening experience. The 22-mile circuit loops the city via historic railroads, connecting 45 neighbourhoods and millions of people. Set off along the lengthy trail and discover the districts, parks and sights you’d never normally see.

Boutique shopping
Sure, you could spend all your time shopping for world-famous brands at Atlanta’s luxury malls, but wouldn’t it be more interesting to explore the local designers and concepts on offer at the city’s homegrown boutiques? From Atlanta MADE, a showroom displaying only local creations, to Crafted Westside, a multi-brand boutique showcasing local artisans and designers, there are lots of opportunities to pick up unique wares or souvenirs to impress back home.
Adventure sports
Atlanta isn’t all history and culture; it’s an adventure sports hotspot, too. Indulge your inner daredevil by heading into the mountains, forests and rivers that border the city. From zip lining through the forests of north Georgia, to rafting and tubing on the Chattahoochee River, there’s plenty to challenge even young-at-heart adults. (Link to: )
Stone Mountain Park
While the city is great fun, everybody needs a break from time to time. For a dose of fresh air, head into the hills of Stone Mountain Park, on the edge of Atlanta. Visit for the day or camp at the Stone Mountain Park Campsite and spend hours hiking through 3,200 acres of beautiful parkland and wooded nature trails. A dizzying climb to the top of Stone Mountain offers Instagrammable views – for an easier ride, jump on the Summit Skyride and gaze out over Atlanta and the Appalachian Mountains as you speed up in a cable car.
